Yes, it’s been a long time. 2023 was cruising along for me and then I got the shock of a lifetime when my landlord increased my rent by an amount he shouldn’t have and pushed up the change of lease date by a month. I had to move but that proved to be the impossible pursuit as I ended up not knowing where I was going to live when Thanksgiving week came up. I reached out to the LA Table in a last attempt to find a place to live and ended up renting a bedroom in a house in Monrovia. I will be forever grateful to the couple who took me in. Around the same time, I found someone to be my roommate and after many setbacks and applications, we finally got a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom in North Hollywood. I couldn’t believe I got approved to live somewhere this nice. The neighborhood is the complete opposite of Inglewood and a place I visited often when auditioning for EPAs, commercials, and film. And I live a half mile from the legendary Porto’s so I can eat their food any time I want. Unfortunately, greater fortune requires greater income and the expenses aren’t going anywhere. I even owed taxes last year! There have been many self-tapes but no bookings and I really need to book something. I had a beautiful direct to callback for a commercial that filmed in Vancouver, BC but would have had me away for two weeks, and as someone in a pay check to pay check situation, the awesome pay wouldn’t have come soon enough. So, I have to stick to the day job and nearly certainly find full-time employment to get my finances recovered from last year and the past 8 years of financial emergencies. It all added up and I need to fix the situation.
